Who or what is a Captain Punch Beard? Apparently he’s a bit of a party animal. He hangs out on Facebook and recently flew all the way from Oregon to Florida for Spring Break.

(Brace yourself for an onslaught of links…) Bridgeport Brewing Company presents the first pour of this year’s batch of Stumptown Tart on Thursday April 5th at Jimmy Maks on 221 NW 10th Ave in Portland, Oregon. As if the beer wasn’t enough, you can meet the tart on the poster as well, Bernie Dexter, but you better control your cartoon wolf eyes because her hubby Levi Dexter will also be there playing live rockabilly with his band the High Flyers. The Oregon Interscholastic Snowboard Association wanted some pullover jerseys for the competitors at the 2012 state championships in May. The decided to update the classic Tuxedo T-shirt idea, and we were happy to oblige. The jerseys were a hit with everyone on the mountain, so who knows what we’ll do for them next year. Probably not “I’m with stupid.”

We don’t get many requests for this, (OK, maybe one request Ever!) but we certainly can do it. It’s kind of hard to tell from the photos, but they really look nice. We printed black on black and white on white. Someone got some fancy presents.

The official merch site of the 2012 Pole Pedal Paddle race in Bend, Oregon is online and taking orders. Pole Pedal Paddle? Whozit? Whatzit? It’s a six legged relay race involving alpine skiing/snowboarding, cross-country skiing, biking, running, canoe/kayaking and sprinting to the finish. Some teams are hyper serious about the race, others… not so much. All proceeds generated from the U.S. Bank Pole Pedal Paddle support the programs of the Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation. MBSEF is a non-profit organization that promotes and supports amateur alpine, cross country, snowboard, and cycling training for junior athletes.

Don’t knock it until you try it. Rogue Ales and Voodoo Doughnut have teamed up to make Voodoo Bacon Maple Ale. We got a chance to screen print some umbrella panels, something we don’t do every day. It only took ten minutes to break out into a chorus of Singing in the Rain.

Run for the Arts is an annual jogathon organized by Young Audiences where kids gather pledges in order to raise money to subsidize arts funding in schools. Last year nearly 22,000 students from 82 schools in Oregon & SW Washington participated in the Run, raising over $730,000! One of the incentives for the kids the chance to earn a free t-shirt by reaching a certain level of pledges. The designs have always been done by kids themselves. This year’s designer was Caemlyn Dayson, who goes to Arleta School,. She had some help from her older brother Darion, who goes to Franklin High School.

Skate-a-roke is this Monday, January the 9th form 7:30-10pm at the Oaks Park Roller Rink. What is Skate-a-roke? Roller skating and Karoke! Proceeds go to the Rose City Rollers. Make sure you pick up one of these boss t-shirts commemorating the event. Yes, we said “boss.”

We’ve recently been screen printing some movie posters for the Hollywood Theater in Portland. So far it’s been all horror films. The latest is this poster for the 1984 cult classic Silent Night Deadly Night. The art was done by Local Portland artist Irina Beffa. The separation process for posters is a little bit different than for t-shirts. There’s a lot more overprinting and unlike t-shirts, you print all of one color and let it dry before moving to the next color. We built an extra large vacuum table printing rig to accommodate oversized movie posters, but this poster is standard sized. (If you’re interested in the details, we’ve got a pretty cool future post planned.)
